Upon graduation from Texas Tech University with a degree in Business Management and his MBA, Tobin returned to Midland, Texas and began a career in Oilfield Sales. After tiring of riding a rollercoaster known as “the price of oil”, he answered a newspaper ad for a Business Consultant in Credit Card Processing Sales in 1993.
After only a short stint as a Sales Rep for Digital Merchant Systems, Tobin was offered the position of District Manager for the Pacific Northwest, and he and Carol set off on the adventure of their lives.
Settling in Portland, Oregon, they began the process of building that Sales Team to be one of the most productive and profitable in the country. After the acquisition of Digital by Concord EFS, and the conversion of 3 major northwest banks to the Concord processing platform, 7 more states were added to Tobin’s territory and he was promoted again to assistant Regional Manager, now over the largest geographical area in Concord.
After only 2 years, Tobin was again promoted, this time to Regional Manager for the Western United States, and he and Carol were transferred to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they continued to build and add new banks, and added the petroleum industry to their resume with Concord’s acquisition of the Buypass platform in Atlanta.
Upon the purchase of Concord by First Data, Tobin and Carol were offered the task of starting the newest First Data Revenue Sharing Alliance in Texas, Citi Merchant Services. After 3-1/2 years and building the most productive Citi territory, Tobin was once again offered the task of rebuilding the Independent Agent Channel for First Data in the Western United States.
After over 9 years in the Agent channel, and winning the President’s Club Award a company record 17th time, Tobin and Carol decided it was time to build their own company. After requesting and receiving an early retirement buyout from First Data, Insignia Payment Solutions was born…and the rest is history…
